“Every person should enjoy the powerful emotional experience that music gives us.”

Rod's first music-making experiences were as a choral singer and trombonist. Inspired by the joy he found in music, he completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education at Mansfield University, and a Master’s Degree in Music Education at West Chester University with a vocal performance option.

Rod came to Berks County in 1999 where he taught music in the public schools for 20 years. Since 2015 he has been on the artistic staff for the Reading Choral Society as Bass Section Leader and Director of the Chamber Singers. www.readingchoral.org

In 2012 he joined the Hamilton Celtic Pipe Band as a bagpiper and now serves as the Pipe Major (director and manager) of the band. Rod frequently plays as a solo piper for weddings, funerals and other occasions in the area. https://www.hamiltonceltic.com/

In 2021 Rod became the newest member of the musical trio known as Fire in the Glen, a band specializing in mug-thumping Celtic tunes, lively songs and sea shanties. Vocals, Scottish Smallpipes, Irish whistle, and Stompbox are his contributions to the mix. More info at www.fireintheglen.com
